Ramon A. Beras
Ramón A. Beras built a successful broadcasting career across three countries before life taught him what really matters. Born in the Dominican Republic as one of eleven children, political troubles forced him to leave for Venezuela at sixteen, where he discovered his passion for radio.
He created “Quisqueya and its Music” on Radio Libertador, then moved to the United States in 1984, producing “Variedades Musicales” for New York cable television. Back in the Dominican Republic, he worked as a news reporter for Radio Reporte and Radio Millón, contributed to Listín Diario newspaper, and served as a government journalist.
Professional success, however, couldn’t prepare him for personal tragedy. When his daughter Sindia Mercedes died, everything changed. This loss could have destroyed him, but instead it became the foundation for his most important work.
Now married to Rebeca Pichardo, Ramón uses his communication skills for a different purpose: helping others understand how faith functions when life falls apart. His media background allows him to write clearly, while his personal experience provides the credibility that makes his message trustworthy.
FAITH
LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS
‘Faith: Light in the Darkness’ was born from tragedy when Ramón A. Beras lost his beloved daughter, Sindia Mercedes. Instead of letting grief consume him, he discovered how faith could provide strength during the most devastating circumstances imaginable.
This book doesn’t offer quick fixes or empty promises and polished realities. The author writes with brutal honesty about pain while demonstrating how a genuine belief in God transforms our ability to cope with loss. The twenty-seven chapters cover prayer, forgiveness, healing, and God’s promises, but each topic comes from real experience rather than theory.
What makes this book valuable is its authenticity. Ramón faced questions that only arise during true crisis and found answers that actually work. He shows how faith operates not as escape from reality but as foundation when everything else crumbles.
Whether you’ve lost a child, find your faith shaken by circumstances, or simply want to understand how spiritual conviction functions during hardship, ‘Faith: Light in the Darkness’ provides genuine guidance. It speaks to anyone tired of surface-level comfort and seeking truth that can withstand life’s worst storms.

I lost my job of fifteen years when the company closed down. At 52, nobody wanted to hire me. My savings ran out, had to sell my house, and moved in with my daughter. I felt like such a failure. My friend gave me this book and said it helped her through tough times. Ramón doesn't just talk about death… he talks about all kinds of darkness people face. His words about trusting God when you can't see the path ahead really spoke to me.

My son got addicted to drugs when he was 19. For five years, we watched him destroy his life and ours. I prayed every day but nothing changed. I started questioning if God even cared about my family. This book showed me that faith isn't about getting the answers we want but about holding on when everything feels hopeless. My son is in recovery now, but even if he wasn't, this book taught me how to have peace in the storm.

I thought Christians weren't supposed to have mental health problems. Felt like I was failing God somehow. My counselor actually recommended this book. Its genuinely very encouraging that the author talks about all different kinds of darkness, including the kind that happens in your mind. He helped me see that getting help for depression doesn't mean you don't have faith. It means you're taking care of what God gave you.

Got diagnosed with breast cancer at 34. I have two little kids and all I could think about was leaving them without a mother. Everyone kept saying 'God won't give you more than you can handle' but I felt like I was drowning. This book tells you the truth about how faith works when you're scared out of your mind. The author and his way of writing explained plus… helped me understand that being afraid doesn't mean you don't trust God.

Our family business went bankrupt during COVID. Three generations of work just gone. I was so angry at God I couldn't see straight. How could He let us lose everything we built? A customer who became a friend recommended this book. What hit me was how Ramón talks about finding light when everything looks dark. We're rebuilding now, and this book helped me keep my faith intact during the worst time of my life.
